KONTEX 2026 is an interactive workshop at MODELS 2026 focused on bridging the gap between informal domain knowledge (e.g., natural language requirements, user stories, narratives, sketches, spreadsheets) and structured conceptual models that can be operationalized within model-driven engineering ecosystems. It brings together researchers, practitioners, tool builders, and educators interested in methods, languages, and tools for extracting, structuring, and transforming informal, unstructured, and semi-formal knowledge into conceptual and executable models.
Submission Guidelines
All papers must be original and not simultaneously submitted to another journal or conference.
The following paper categories are welcome:
Full papers describing novel approaches, methods, tools, or frameworks for knowledge extraction, conceptual modeling, and operationalization within model-driven engineering (up to 10 pages, including references).
Short papers describing work in progress, preliminary results, experience reports, or tools and platforms (including hands-on demos) related to the workshop themes (up to 5 pages, including references).
Opinion papers describing new ideas, open challenges, positions, and visions on knowledge operationalization from informal to executable models (up to 3 pages, including references).
All submissions must follow the ACM conference format using the acmart class and ACM Reference Format; LaTeX users should use \documentclass[sigconf,review]{acmart} and the ACM-Reference-Format bibliography style.
List of Topics
KONTEX 2026 solicits contributions on (but not limited to) the following topics:
Methods and processes for deriving domain or conceptual models from informal artifacts (requirements, user stories, narratives, spreadsheets, sketches).
AI-, rule-based, and NLP-based approaches to model extraction, derivation, and automation (including LLMs for conceptual modeling).
Tooling, frameworks, and domain-specific languages for capturing, structuring, and operationalizing informal knowledge in model-driven engineering pipelines.
Human and organizational aspects, including empirical studies on analysts and stakeholders, interactive and mixed-initiative modeling tools, and the impact of automation on skills and roles.
